Trump budget cuts funding for health agencies
The Trump administration's 2021 budget request delivered Monday to Congress includes a nearly 10% cut to HHS, although the requested cuts are not expected to win approval from the House of Representatives, which has the power of the purse and a Democratic majority. The budget request would trim funding for CDC by almost 16%.

CDC officials said Monday that although more than 100 people in the United States are being monitored for potential coronavirus infection, no new cases were confirmed overnight and the risk for the United States is still low. Five cases of the new coronavirus have been confirmed in the United States.
WHO calls for emergency meeting on new virus in China, as cases spread to health care workers
As the number of cases of a new coronavirus continues to increase in China, the World Health Organization says it will convene an expert panel to decide whether the outbreak should be considered a global health emergency. China has confirmed more than 200 infections with the new virus, including four deaths.

Monday marks first day of October and the start of American Pharmacists Month, a celebration in support of pharmacists around the country.
