Pharmacy united in call for President Trump to Act on DIR fee reform
APhA and other pharmacy organizations on Monday sent a letter to President Donald Trump calling on his administration to provide relief from pharmacy direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) fees that inflate drug costs paid by patients and the government, and that force pharmacies to fill Medicare prescriptions often below cost.
Oklahoma governor signs revised pharmacy choice bill
Gov. Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma on Tuesday signed a revised pharmacy choice bill into law, 3 weeks after vetoing an earlier version. House Bill 2632 prohibits restrictions on a patient's right to choose a pharmacy provider without paying a penalty and calls for an advisory committee to review complaints and administer fines.
States bring new price-fixing suit against generic-drug makers
Attorneys general from more than 40 states filed a lawsuit in federal court in Connecticut on Friday, alleging the nation's largest generic drug manufacturers conspired to artificially inflate and manipulate prices for more than 100 different generic drugs.
DEA's 17th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has highest-ever partner participation
DEA's most recent National Prescription Drug Take Back Day saw record numbers of law enforcement partners and collection sites. The April 27 event—held with more than 5,000 local, state, tribal, and federal partners at nearly 6,400 collection sites nationwide—led to the collection and destruction of 469 tons of unused or expired drugs.

Monday marks first day of October and the start of American Pharmacists Month, a celebration in support of pharmacists around the country.
